During 2017 and 2018, a survey was conducted within the EU project RESOLVE, on how attractive Växjö city center is experienced by customers and traders. The result showed, among other things, that people in Växjö spent more money in 2018 than in 2017 and that it is those who use public transport, ride bicycles and walk that account for the largest increase.
These results were presented on January 15 to businessmen, politicians and others during a Regional Conference.
Guest lecturer Giuliano Mingardo from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, researcher in transport economics, has also presented a comparison of the results in relation to other European cities included in the project. As an example, he showed that those who visit Växjö city center spend longer time in the city compared to other participating cities in Europe. He also showed that among all participating cities, attractiveness is more important than accessibility, according to customers surveyed.
