The 8th of March, RFC partners assisted online to Prešov’s Study Visit, and the day after, March 9th they attended the 1st Policy Improvement Workshop. It is one of the last activities planned in the first phase of the RFC project, focused on the exchange of experiences and the drafting of an action plan on the territory, taking as an example other initiative shared by the other partners. During the second phase, planned from next summer, the work foreseen in the action plan, which is currently being drafted, will be carried out.
During the first day partners assisted to Prešov’s Study Visit. After a short presentation about the region, which included the official Videospot, an in deep analysis of some the region’s fortification took place. Firstly, it was the turn of Ing. arch. Alexandra Kotrusová, PhD., who explained the condition of the fortress cities in Prešov region. Afterwards Mgr. Peter Harčar, archeologist, specialized in medieval archeology and the history of Bardejov, described the fortification system in Bardejov. Continuing with the city’s defensive structures, Bastion “Hrubá bašta” – cultural and community centre in Bardejov – was presented as volunteering restoration example: at the beginning there were 5 volunteers, today a dozen enthusiasts, led by Mgr. František Maxin
After a break it was the turn for castles out of the city of Bardejov. Castle Lubovna - Barrier free castle and open-air museum in Stará Ľubovňa - was introduced to partners by Mgr. Daniela Reľovská and Ing. Otília Barlíková. The last fortress shown was Stropkov Castle, a little-known town castle in the history of Slovakia -, presented by Mgr. Ľuboslav Šmajda, city historian. The day ended with a panel Discussion.
The second day of this RFC meeting was a Workshop about Policy Improvement, where all partners participated presenting one of their Good Practices and discussing about them. Also, partners put in common findings and recommendations from all stakeholders, partners and political representatives.
