On the 30th of June 2022, the North West Regional Development Agency organized the 5th Regional Stakeholders Group meeting in Turda, Cluj County. The meeting was hosted by the Municipality of Turda, with a warm welcome from the mayor and his team and was complemented by a study visit to one of the main Roman Castrum in Transylvania, Potaissa. During the plenary meeting, the North-West RDA team assisted by the external expert has presented the 3 years activities, best practices and results of the RFC project and the Action Plan proposed for the heritage revitalization of the North-West Region of Romania.
The event was attended by the project team members from the North-West RDA, the Mayor of Turda accompanied by a large team of experts from the technical department, a delegation from Baia Mare Municipality, representatives of Turda History Museum, archaeologists and university professors from the Babeș Bolyai University, Faculty of History and Philosophy.
After the plenary session, the participants visited Potaissa Roman Castrum, a heritage site that is being rehabilitated and restored to the tourist circuit through a ERDF project implemented through the Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020. During a guided tour, it was presented, step by step, the evolution of the archaeological site, the significance of each of its areas, the rehabilitation plans and the challenges faced by the team in charge of implementing the project for the rehabilitation of the castrum.
The visit to the castrum was completed by a tour of the collections housed by Turda History Museum , most of discovered following archaeological missions in the area.
