On 15th of March the online session was followed by 40 stakeholders. The topic of the meeting was urban planning, landscape architecture and design.

As the city of Herentals was our host and inspirational speakers were invited to focus on the Herentals city wall remnants and how to take into account the many developments in the surroundings of the city wall structure.

Professor Piet Lombaerde explained the historic structures and exposed the typical elements of the former city wall of Herentals. The cities employees Stein Geuens and Laurens Moubax shared the situation of a city wall with increasing interest. Wim Debaene, RFC coordinator shared the development of the Vestentoets as important spatial tool to take the city wall into account. Also good practices were shared from other fortress cities for example Damme and other fortress projects. Josephine Kroneberg, our partner from Magdeburg, has presented their good example of their Fortress Advisory Board. This meeting has brought together a lot of expertise and it turns out that the RFC project fills in this need as there is a lot of interest in the common topic of fortification heritage .
