On 29 May, a new lab opened at NTNU - Norwegian University of Science and Technology to gather and integrate economics and technology. The TEFT-lab will build expertise and research in areas such as artificial intelligence, Big Data, machine learning and sustainable business models. TEFT lab stands for research on service innovation (T), entrepreneurship (E), finance (F) and technology (T). The lab is funded by the local savings bank, Sparebank Møre, who wish to support and collaborate on research connecting finance to sustainable and entrepreneurial opportunities of the future. The lab will host six PhDs by the end of 2018, who will work directly with local companies to develop local corporate sustainability capacity and awareness. At the opening, the Mayor of the region of Møre and Romsdal stressed the need for the innovative research to focus not only on the region, but on international development and cooperation as well.
