Student Enterprise Awards Programme (SEA Programme)
Supported by the Tipperary Local Enterprise Office (LEO) & Tipperary County Council, to encourage students aged 12-18 to explore the world of enterprise & entrepreneurship.
The support offered through the initiative includes monthly visits, social media and e-mail support from the SEA Co-Ordinator, LEO.
Case study of young entrepreneurs receiving support:
Émer Walsh, a 13 year old student took part in the SEA Programme in 2013/2014 with her business idea of hand-crafted personalised greeting cards.
Émer went on to win the SEA County Final and represented County Tipperary at the National SEA Final in Dublin in April 2014. She won the Innovation Award for her creation ‘braille’ Greeting Cards.
Émer's business has gone from strength to strength and she how has a range of wall hangings created from photographs taken by herself. Emer also now has a garden shed which she bought and has turned this into a full work space for her business. Her cards are on sale in a local craft shop and selling very well.
At this year’s SEA Final, Émer was interviewed as a past award winner who is still in business. She shared how her confidence has grown along with her business, and that she has now expanded using her newly discovered photography skills.
