The Teruel Chamber of Commerce together with the Department of Commerce, Fairs and Crafts of the Government of Aragon (Spain) know the content and operation of the Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) in Sligo (Ireland).
The bilateral meeting has taken place online within the framework of the Save Rural Retail (SARURE) project that the Teruel Chamber of Commerce together with the Government of Aragon have led since 2018.
The SARURE project is in the Phase of the implementation of the Action Plans in each territory, which includes the regulation of the Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) in Aragon. It is an instrument of public-private collaboration for the creation, development and strengthening of economic activity in urban environments.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Teruel Chamber of Commerce, the Director of Commerce, Fairs and Crafts, the Head and technician of the Commercial Promotion and Management Service of the Government of Aragon, representatives of the Governments of Navarra and Catalonia who already have experience in this model, our partners in County Sligo and the promoters of the Sligo IDB itself.
Sligo introduced the BID in 2016 for a duration of five years and in 2021 it has been decided to extend it for another five years in agreement with the majority of its members. In this period and thanks to the collaboration and cooperation of the companies with the Administration, it has been possible to turn the commercial areas into areas of attraction for potential customers.

Next week it will be the Greek, Swedish, Irish and German partners who will know in another meeting the details of our Network of Rural MultiServices of Aragon since it has been a reference to implement it in their territories.
