The morning sessions were kicked off with an introductory presentation on the state of play of the Programme by Erwin Siweris, the Programme Director of Interreg Europe.
The Research and Innovation experts Marc Pattinsion and Arnault Morisson from the Policy Learning Platform introduced the workshop’s agenda as well as key concepts in monitoring, evaluating, and designing Smart Specialisation Strategies. Their presentation can be found here.
To delve deeper into monitoring RIS3, Mathieu Doussineau from the Joint Research Centre (JRC) Seville S3 Platform, presented the tools and initiatives to support RIS3 monitoring and evaluation from the S3 Platform. Discover more in his presentation.
Peter Berkowitz, Head of unit, from the Directorate - General Regional and Urban Policy (DG Regio) took the floor with his speech focusing on monitoring and evaluating RIS3.
Ron Boschma, Full Professor at Utrecht University, focused on better designing smart specialisation strategies (S3) in the EU looking at how regions can promote related or unrelated diversification and extra-regional linkages. Learn more in his presentation.
Paulo Santos from the Commission for Regional Development and Coordination of Norte presented Monitoring RIS3 - MONITORIS3 Good Practice.
Frédéric Pinna from Dev’up Centre Val de Loire continued with a presentation on Evaluation RIS3 - Beyond EDP Good Practice
The presentation of Ioannis Spandos, followed up focusing on the Designing RIS3 - HIGHER Good Practice.
Then, working groups were formed to discuss in depth monitoring, evaluating, and designing RIS3.
The working sessions were concluded with a presentation from the experts of the Policy Learning Platform on the latest tools to better monitor, evaluate, and design RIS3.
