Regional Energy Agency North was the host of the 3rd Local Stakeholder Group meeting of the Social Green project that the Agency is implementing under the Interreg Europe program, which deals with the topic of social housing. 

The meeting, which was held in Zagreb, good practice examples were presented along with preliminary measures which will be included in the Action Plan. Local Stakeholder Group members then gave their ideas and suggestions regarding presented measures.


Regional Energy Agency North is implementing the project "Regional policy for Greening the Social Housing Sector" (acronym Social Green) co-financed by Interreg Europe, where the City of Varazdin is the main national partner.

The program seeks to capitalize on the regional knowledge and good practices that are already recognized at European level and create preconditions for their application across the EU. Social Green addresses the issue of the social housing sector and its improvement through increasing energy efficiency. Following the ongoing project activities, a third Local Stakeholder Group meeting was held at the premises of the Croatian Green Building Council. At the third meeting, examples of good practices and preliminary measures and goals for improvement of the state of social housing were presented and are planned to be part of the Action Plan for Greening Social Housing Sector.

Participants also included proposals for measures and goals identified by the Agency, with special attention being given to the document "Busines Plan for Providing Services in the Area of Social Housing".

The meeting was attended by employees of several institutions directly or indirectly addressing the issue of social housing:

  • Ministry of Demographics, Family, Youth and Social Policy
  • Croatian Green Building Council
  • Society For Sustainable Development Design
  • Agency for Legal Affairs
  • Real Estate Brokerage and Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund
