Development Centre of the Heart of Slovenia held the 1st Stakeholders Meeting of the EU_SHAFE project, on November 25th, which took place at Mekinje Monastery in Kamnik Municipality.
The aim of the meeting/workshop was to present in brief EU_SHAFE project and to encourage smaller projects that directly improve the lives of the elderly in the home environment. First of all the goal was to identify ideas, initiatives and also actors who can turn this ideas into projects and add a touchstone to the mosaic of smart, healthy and age-friendly environments. Since Development Centre of the Heart of Slovenia is the Coordinator of LAG Heart of Slovenia, representatives of 6 Municipalities involved in LAG were invited, together with all institutions that are enabling the quality life for elderly living at home: Retirement homes, Patronage service, Centres for social work, Home-care institutions, ICT companies, ect.
The event was organized in two parts. In the first part Igor Košir from Development Centre of the Heart of Slovenia presented EU_SHAFE project and the goal of the meeting. Mr. Gregor Cuzak, moderator of the event and ecosystem coordinator of ECHAlliance, led the interactive panel, where participants discussed about the key challenges of older people living at home, good practices implemented by or for the elderly, development ideas that could be implemented and financing modalities and project implementation opportunities for better quality of life for the elderly.
The panelists were Mr. Franci Rokavec, Mayor of the Municipality of Litija, Mrs. Irena Špela Cvetežar, director of the Retirement home Tisje, Šmartno pri Litiji, Mr. Janez Praček, Ministry of Health, Mrs. Katja Vegel, Municipality of Kamnik, Mrs. Martina Ozimek,M.Sc. ,Oreli Institute, Mr. Mitja Bratun, Head of LAG Heart of Slovenia, Mrs. Nada Jerala, Head of Home Assistance, Pristan Institute and Mr. Željko Savič, Mayor of the Municipality of Dol pri Ljubljani.

The second part of the meeting was dedicated to a workshop, where participants were divided into 4 groups (living environment, social inclusion, communication and information, health and needs for local services), to develop project ideas in the field of raising the quality of life of elderly living at home.
Cooperation between all involved institutions is extremely important. Preposition was given for preparation of a common project proposal within LAG Heart of Slovenia in the area of all 6 municipalities. The idea should base on enhancing cooperation between stakeholders who are directly involved in health care services.
The next step is to find similar good practices within EU_SHAFE Consortium, establish Interregional learning, cooperation process and finally design a good development project.
