UAS Cluster is an initiative to foster the drone sector in Podkarpackie Region through joint management and cooperation with complementary sectors.
The very fast development of UAS market has forced entrepreneurs from the industry to implement services and solutions offered by other sectors of the economy. Cluster of Unmanned Aerial Systems was created in response to the huge demand for cross-sectoral cooperation and complementary services offered within the cluster. One of the main tasks of the cluster is stimulating the development of the R&D sector and influencing the greater effectiveness of cooperation between the business and science.
Main areas of activity : Conducting research on unmanned systems, implementation of innovative unmanned systems, trainings and certification for UAS operators , organizing annual Drone Show Rzeszów other conferences and exhibitions related to unmanned systems and flight safety, Cross-sectoral cooperation between national and local governments, policy makers, entrepreneurs, universities, startups, business environment institutions, and other clusters.

Resources needed

Basic operational costs per year: around 20 000 EUR

Human resources: Managers, Projct Managers, Asisstants (around 15 people with long term contracts)

Evidence of success

Organisation of annual Dron Show Rzeszow and Drone Expo: very high interest not only from UAS related companies but what is relevant all the business and citizens so social acceptance for UAS is growing, successful participation in the call for projects regarding innovations, growing number of certified UAS operators, creation of the space for dialogue between regional policy makers and UAS representatives in shaping regional policies.

Difficulties encountered

Getting finance for big projects and intiatives, some restrictions to the operations and services that can be implemented with drones, social acceptance.

Potential for learning or transfer

Similar clustering activity can be implemented in any other regions when UAS wants to foster and concentrate their activities on a common platform. To cooperate pays more than to compete - with this idea the founders of cluster are working daily.
