Facilitate emission-free and electric transportation system - and contribute to optimal use of existing grids through local production, storage and management
The transition from fossil to emissions-free transport will require extensive electrification of the transport sector. Charging of aircrafts, buses and ships will increase the demand for electricity.

Local microgrids, smart control systems, energy distribution, business models, dissemination. Through this demo, Elnett 21 will develop solutions to meet the increased need for power. In this way, the parties can produce and exchange self-produced energy, while at the same time becoming robust in terms of power needs at a time when consumption is increasing. Elnett21 will show that we can achieve better utilization of resources by having larger players collaborate on solutions adapted to needs and consumption.

FACTS: ‍
Elnett21 was started in 2019 and will end in 2024.
Total estimated budget: 110 MNOK, which Enova contributes 40 MNOK to Elnett21.
PARTNERS:
Avinor (airport), Forus Næringspark, Lyse Elnett, Smartly, Stavangerregionen Havn.

Resources needed

Total estimated budget: 110 Million Norwegian kroner, which Enova contributes 40 Million NOK to Elnett 21. Partners contributes the rest.

Evidence of success

Tvedt Center's transition to district heating and cooling: «annual energy-related CO2 emissions estimated at a 19% reduction.
Stavanger Airport Avinor: Will establish a battery that will largely replace diesel generators as a backup during low-visibility procedure * - when this is in place in 2021 / early 2022) we will have direct / documentable effects on CO2 reduction as a result of the Elnett21 project.
