Creation of a working group with all public and private stakeholders to improve and expand the curriculum of Jewelry education and training in Galicia.
The working group began by analysing the current regulations on jewellery education as well as the needs and demands of the jewellery sector. The aim was to revise, update, and renew the training, transforming it into an itinerary within Higher Education in Product Design.

This raised the need to review and define the disciplines and academic contents to be taught in the new itinerary of the specialty, as well as the implementation of new disciplines.

A pilot project was developed at the Mestre Mateo School of Art and Design. Supervised by the working group new equipment necessary to teach innovative processes was used and evaluated by trial and error.

The educational authorities have been asked to include into the teaching stuff professionals of recognized prestige in the sector to train students as well as inhouse trainers with the aim of expanding and improving the knowledge of key content disciplines for the jewellery trade.

In the curricular design, an equivalence with the Dual Vocational Training in Galicia has also been sought in terms of the format of internships in companies in order to improve the employability possibilities of the students. Increasing the number of hours from 105 to 300 hours.

A draft decree of the Product Design itinerary: Jewelry and accessories was developed to be able to convert it into a degree within the European Higher Education Area (EQF6) with a level equal to the university degree in Spain (MECES2).
