i4CAM HUB has as a goal to improve the competitiveness of strategic industrial sectors for the region, especially metal manufacturers and agri-food.
The industrial sector is a key element in the development and growth of the region, standing out as an essential lever to promote R&D and the digitization of the region.
In fact, the metallurgical sector constitutes a fundamental link in the productive network due to its articulation with different industrial sectors: energy, primary sector industries, the transport industry –including the automobile, aeronautical and railway sectors–, networks telecommunications, the agri-food industry, agriculture, the main process industries –including the chemical, petrochemical and plastic industries– and the metal-mechanical and electrical industries.
The available services through the i4CAM DIH makes it possible for any business to access the cutting-edge knowledge, experience and technologies for testing and experiencing the relevant digital innovations for their products, processes and business model.
Also, the i4CAM DIH provide connections with investors, facilitate access to financing for digital transformations, and help connect users and suppliers of digital innovations across the value chain.
i4CAM HUB is constituted as a collaborative network promoted and integrated in an initial phase by the Fundación Metal Technology Center of Castilla la Mancha, the University of Castilla-La Mancha and Itecam (Industrial Technology Center of Castilla-La Mancha), which acts as coordinator. Likewise, various entities have joined this initial consortium, becoming part of the DIH.

Resources needed

The industrial focuses of the i4CAM hub are included in the Regional Smart Specialization Strategy of Castilla-La Mancha, in the community context of RIS3.

Difficulties encountered

Working together with many stakeholders.
Political agreement and reaching consensus between policy makers, researchers, and institutions.

Potential for learning or transfer

The goal of the European Union Digital Single Market strategy is to ensure that Europe is prepared for the emerging growth of future products and digital services.
The European Commission will use regulations, financial support, coordination and legislation for further fostering the investment in all industrial sectors, complementing so and building the different national strategies.
Other clusters can benefit from the approach from the i4CAM DIH. It is highly transferable due to its principle of cooperation, inclusive and openness to input from external stakeholders.
