Norfolk County Council is working with the Association of Local Environmental Records Centres to engage with stakeholders. Local Environmental Records Centres (LERCs) collect, manage and provide local biodiversity data, making them exceptionally well placed in understanding the link between data providers and data users. By working with ALERC, Norfolk County Council has been able to generate responses from a number of stakeholders for the BID-REX questionnaire for data managers and decision makers.
Input from stakeholders is vital to understanding how data is used by decision makers and to the success of the BID-REX project. As well as LERCs, questionnaires have been sent to local authorities and municipalities, development companies, ecological consultancies, national parks and NGOs. These groups have provided much information on the needs of data users, as well as giving examples of good practice with regards to use of biodiversity data. This information will be invaluable when investigating the flow of biodiversity data to decisions.
