On 30th June 2017, Paul Dolman from the University of East Anglia (UEA) met with staff from the Forestry Commission (FC) England and FC Yorkshire District. He presented best practice and learning outcomes from the first and second interregional workshops. He also discussed the use of biodiversity data to support management for priority biodiversity in multi-use (public amenity and recreation, carbon, biodiversity, biomass production) forest-open landscape mosaics.
UEA also presented a systematic approach to synthesising management requirements of multiple priority species to inform site management and quantify trade-offs between supporting (conserving, enhancing and ensuring the sustainability of) priority biodiversity and other ecosystem services in management of green infrastructure.
After this meeting, FC England included a workplan for biodiversity auditing in a national application for Heritage Lottery funding.
