Nearly 50 stakeholders met in Basque Country last year for the second interregional workshop, to discuss how biodiversity information can be matched to the needs of decision makers. The main conclusions of this workshop have now been consolidated into a Key Lessons Brief.
Participants agreed that information needs to be relevant and fit for use, and that technology plays a vital role in guaranteeing and facilitating access to information, as it can be more efficiently accessed, interpreted, analysed and manipulated.
The Key Lessons Brief also highlights examples of where decision makers are successfully using biodiversity information.
Successful examples of where biodiversity data is meeting the needs of decision makers were also highlighted to help regional partners develop their own successful methods. These examples of good practice can be used by regional partners as a basis for developing their own applications.
