The BID-REX project was introduced at the final EU BON meeting last month. Dr. Lluís Brotons, who is a member of both the BID-REX working group in Catalonia and the EU BON project, took advantage of the event's audience to introduce the BID-REX project as an example of an initiative to link biodiversity data with regional development policies and decision-making processes.
The meeting, held in Brussels, gathered EU BON partners with stakeholders from research, European policy and citizen science to learn about the project's results and outputs, and to discuss the future of a European Biodiversity Observation Network. Over the last five years, the project has worked on the establishment and adoption of new data standards and the development of new approaches for future biodiversity monitoring.
Sharing information generated by the BID-REX project to the final EU BON meeting supports one of the BID-REX project objectives; to engage scientific audiences producing large volumes of biodiversity information to create synergies.
