AGENEX-Extremadura Energy Agency has participated in the session on "Energy transition in EU regions and cities" held in the European Week of Regions and Cities. In this session, AGENEX shared the “STRATEGY FOR BOOSTING THE ELECTROMOBILITY IN EXTREMADURA" that was born in the framework of CISMOB project.
This Strategy has the following action lines:
- Developing charging stations in Extremadura region;
- Promoting the use of electric vehicles;
- Training of professionals from the mobility sector and creation of new jobs;
- Boosting public-private collaboration in this field.
During his speech, Cosme Segador as AGENEX's Director has shown that sustainable mobility is also relevant in rural areas: “Although this involves a greater effort, we will not achieve real change if we do not involve all citizens in the transition to the new models of sustainable transport, both in the cities and in the villages”.
In this regard, Cosme Segador has emphasized that the first step in the strategy has been the need to create an infrastructure of charging points that cover the whole region: “Efforts have focused on locating these charging points in the main travel routes in the region, in addition to reaching the most tourist areas and connecting roads with Portugal ”.
