Digitourism project partners, visited Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship (KPV) from October 4 to 6, 2021 to learn how KPV uses modern technologies in the promotion of cultural heritage and tourist attractions.
The tourism industry is increasingly turning to digital innovations. The use of technological innovations may not only significantly support local governments in the promotion of cultural and natural heritage resources, but also provide entrepreneurs in the tourism industry with an advantage in this competitive sector of economy - emphasizes the Governor of KPV Piotr Całbecki
The study visit was attended by representatives of:
Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Tourism - France
Innovalia Association - Spain
Aragon Institute of Technology - Spain
University of Pécs - Hungary
Grand Paradis Foundation - Italy
During the first day (Oct. 5) the meeting was held at the Jordanki Cultural and Congress Centre in Toruń and the guests were presented with the tourism potential of Kuyavia and Pomerania. As an example of good practice, the "Culture in range 2.0" project implemented by the Marshal's administration (more about the project - here and here). After the meeting, the project partners visited the multimedia workshop in the District Museum in Toruń, where they became acquainted with the tools and methods of digitization of museum collections (including the use of 3D scanning technology). Then they visited Copernicus House Museum, which after a thorough revitalization successfully uses augmented and virtual reality to present its rich collections. An important element of the visit were also workshops with the creators, implementers and coordinators of the presented projects, giving the opportunity to exchange observations and experiences. The day ended with the presentation of the application Tourist Passport (more) and a walk and city game in the Old Town of Toruń. On second day (Oct. 6), the partners visited the Museum of Toruń Gingerbread, which also uses modern technologies in its work and contact with customers.
Digitourism project supports innovative applications of virtual reality in the tourism sector. Virtual technologies can be used to present museum resources online, publish hitherto unavailable or new content online (e.g. tourist catalogs, leaflets, spatial scans of exhibits), enable virtual tours or film in 3D (more about the project).
Modern technologies also helped to organize an online study visit for the project partners in April this year. Due to the pandemic, the partners could not visit our region in person, so they took advantage of the opportunity to exchange experiences online and took virtual tours of the museums of Kuyavia and Pomerania (more here).
