The number of newly registered electric cars in Germany tripled last year. Experts expect the e-car boom to continue in view of government purchase incentives and new models.
Last year, 194,000 purely battery-electric cars were newly registered, according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). This corresponds to an increase of 206 percent compared to the previous year.
Together with other alternative drives such as plug-in hybrids, gas or hydrogen drive, almost 395,000 electric cars rolled onto the roads - around 30 percent more than in the same period of the previous year.
