Last 16th of July the Metropolitan City of Turin hosted a South Korean delegation from the Korean Industrial Complex Corporation in the framework of exchanging best practices in innovation and research beyond the EU borders.

The representatives of the Development Business Division of KICOX were interested in the strategies and actions that the Metropolitan City of Turin is implementing within the innovation ecosystem and its collaboration with the key actors of the quadruple helix (Public sector, Civil Society, academia, SMEs & Industry). 

Among the different initiatives of the Economic Development Department and the Productive Activites Direction, the following EU projects were presented: ecoRIS3 and FFWD Europe of the Interreg Europe program, Scale(up)Alps and DesAlps of the Interreg Alpine Space program and V.A.L.E. of Interreg Alcotra.

The ecoRIS3 project was presented as an opportunity for the improvement of the policy instruments regarding the implementation of the regional Smart Specialization Strategies in the Research and Innovation field through the exchange of good practices between European partners as well as the establishment of a dialogue between local stakeholders including the managing authority of the S3 policies (Piedmont Region), the universities and high education institutes, the business incubators, scientific parks and innovation poles, the industry and the civil society.

This was a precious opportunity to deepen the knowledge of innovation systems in a worldwide scale, as well as to promote the local ecosystem of the metropolitan area of Turin and the dissemination of its initiatives.
