Last 22nd of October in Cherbourg (France), partners of the ecoRIS3 project were able to discuss the project's progress with key players in the region, as part of an extended office of Atlantic Cities.

This meeting made possible the development of the objective of the project, which aims to link local challenges and opportunities to Regional Innovation Strategies for Intelligent Specialisation (RIS3) by involving all the actors present in the territory. The role of the "territory" is fundamental to create interconnections between key actors and thus allow a better circulation of knowledge.

The project was presented by John Hobbs, senior lecturer at the Cork Institut of Technology and Tamara Espiñeira, Secretary General of the Atlantic Cities who highlighted the three main objectives for the coming years:

  1. Improve innovation ecosystems as part of RIS3 strategies that address existing local challenges and gaps.
  2. Generate strong interactions between key stakeholders to orchestrate innovation ecosystems as part of the quadruple helix
  3. Promote sustainable innovation in urban development (smart Cities).
  4. Propose policies and measures to support local and regional innovation ecosystems.
