Fomento San Sebastian, as the Economic Development and Innovation Agency of the city, is one of the public institutions that must directly act to overcome the crisis generated by the Covid-19 virus.
Companies, Research Centres, Entrepreneurs, local commerces, but also the citizens are directly affected by this crisis, and Fomento San Sebastian has designed and launched an Economic Recovery Plan with 2.6 million euros to try to help mitigate the effects of this situation.
In this context, companies have suffered an almost unprecedented situation of paralysis, leading to massive unemployment rates and an all-time shutdown of activity.
One of the key missions for Fomento in this context has been to give and make available a diverse gamma of tools to help local companies maintaining its activity and competitiveness: for such purpose, one of the measures adopted has been the design and launch of a daily webinar programme adressing different issues related to Innovation processes.
Those webinars were complemented in a second phase by the option of asking for a personal free mentoring service -up to two hours covered by Fomento- with the specialists that were presenting them.
The scheme was to give general Innovation tools to the widest possible audientia, while reserving this mentoring service to those companies, research centres, entrepreneurs, etc., based in Donostia San Sebastian and with innovative projects ongoing.
The rationale behind this new service was to keep the city´s bet for innovation even in the worst scenarios, as a decisive engine to foster the economic development of the city.
From march to July, 22 webinars were organized by the Innovation Service of Fomento San Sebastian, in different topics key to maintain the innovative efforts of our ecosystem´s agents: Business Models (7 webinars), Technology (6 webinars), Professional Development (5 webinars), Design & Creativity (1 webinar) and Entrepreneurship (3 webinars).
A total of 13 different professionals have collaborated in this programme, with 540 participants, more than 80 mentorship services awarded, and a satisfaction rate of 8.37/10.
Fomento San Sebastian´s efforts to keep helping its innovative ecosystem has been welcomed by its local agents in those critical times when Innovation has to be crucial, as new problems require new solutions.
