The Covenant of Mayors launched its peer learning programme for 2021-2022!

This programme, implemented by the Covenant of Mayors, is an opportunity for public authorities to learn, be inspired and take action on your climate and energy challenges. Local and regional authorities interested in participating in the programme should apply before 19 March 2021.

What is it about?

The new programme builds on the success of the Covenant of Mayors twinning programme, and offers cities, regions, and provinces across Europe the opportunity to take part in exchanges that aim to increase their capacity and knowledge through tailored peer discussions to tackle their climate and energy challenges!

A tailored peer learning programme to respond to cities and regions' needs!

The Covenant of Mayors peer learning programme has been designed to cater to the different needs of cities, regions, and provinces. It features tailored programmes targeting those at various stages of the climate adaptation and mitigation journey. These programmes will ensure participants undertake stimulating exchanges including activities such as:

  • Exchanging ideas on how to adapt to climate change through nature-based solutions;
  • Learning how to co-create a climate pact with citizens and business or to develop a climate neutrality strategy;
  • Hearing from experts on how to successfully apply to competitive funding opportunities;
  • Getting tailored feedback and advice on their Sustainable Energy and Climate Adaptation Plans (SECAPs).

Do I have to be a signatory of the Covenant of Mayors?

Yes! The programme is open to all current and prospect Covenant of Mayors signatories (i.e. municipalities), Territorial Coordinators, and Supporters under the condition that they join the initiative before the start of the peer learning programme in June 2021.
