The 4th meeting of the Local Stakeholder Group of the EURE Project in Lubelskie Region took place at the end of February. The meeting was devoted to the issues of blue and green infrastructure in cities and it was participated by representatives of the largest cities in the region: Lublin, Biała Podlaska, Zamość, Chełm, Puławy, Łuków, Biłgoraj, Tomaszów Lubelski, and Hrubieszów. Due to the pandemic situation the meeting was held online.
In addition to the summary of the state of work after the 3rd semester of the project implementation, participants learned about the following Good Practices (GPs) identified within the EURE project that fit into the subject of the meeting:
Athalassa National Forest Park - Cyprus
Multiecological Neighborhoods of Lugo – Spain
Lochotin Park - Czech Republic
Retention tank Vinice - Czech Republic
Lobzy Park - Czech Republic
Urban rehabilitation schemes as defined in the Nicosia Master Plan - Cyprus
Acropolis Exhibition Park Area (Caves) - Cyprus
Through an anonymous survey, the participants selected Retention tank Vinice in the Czech Republic as the best one among the presented GPs and, interestingly, they indicated the above mentioned solution as the easiest one to be implement in that region.
In addition, an expert from the Sendzimir Foundation gave a presentation entitled “Good practices in introducing blue and green infrastructure in cities” providing participants an opportunity to learn about some easy and effective solutions including green roofs, rainwater harvesting solutions, various types of green walkways, bio-retention basins, rain and facade gardens, and green bus stops.
The meeting was concluded with an overview of the European Funds for Lubelskie 2021-2027, with particular emphasis on the planned territorial instruments.
