Synergies among projects is a key element in developing good practices. With this in mind, ANEL decided to integrate the EURE project in the 2nd and 3rd workshops of the Interreg Med project BLUEISLANDS.
During these workshops, held in Limassol and Paphos, Eleni Malekkidou, who is involved in EURE as regional expert for ANEL, presented the EURE project to a total of 120 local stakeholders including local authorities, Horeca operators, representatives of waste management sector, NGOs and professional unions.
Both workshops have been a good opportunity to disseminate EURE at local level, reaching a specific audience already involved in developing good practices for the sustainable development of their territories. Indeed, BLUEISLANDS aims to identify, address and mitigate the effect of the seasonal variation of waste generated on Mediterranean islands as an effect of tourism. The high increase of the population in the summer season, is a serious issue for many Mediterranean islands, especially for waste management systems. 14 partners from 8 countries worked together to identify, address and mitigate the effects of this seasonal variation.
