The second meeting of the Local Stakeholder Group (LSG) of Lubelskie Region took place on 10 June 2020. The lasting pandemic situation made participants meet on – line, namely our Voivodeship’s representatives of cities: Lublin, Puławy, Zamość, Chełm, Biłgoraj, Kraśnik, Hrubieszów, Tomaszów Lubelski. Additionally, two towns (Lubartów and Łuków) joined the Group as a consequence of expanding list of cities categorized in the National Strategy of Regional Development as areas of strategic intervention Medium towns with declining socio- economic function.

The gathering was an occasion for participants to learn about the project’s good practices, previously presented to our officials on study visits in Brest (France) and Empoli (Italy).

Furthermore, the project’s external experts reported on status of work on 3 documents of the project:

  • Regional report on the assessment of the ITI instrument;
  • The partners’ joint report on the assessment of the ITI instrument;
  • Opinion of medium-sized and peripheral towns on the priorities of European urban policy.

The culmination of the meeting was a discussion on urban policy in the future financial perspective and delimitation of urban functional areas in the Lubelskie Voivodeship Development Strategy.

In the nearest future, all LSG member cities will complete questionnaires on their urban development strategies and present their propositions on good practices of environmental management, green growth, eco-innovation or the circular economy; possibly inspiring other European cities.
