On April 21st, TU Dublin submitted on behalf of EU_SHAFE the response to the Green Paper on Ageing.

The document submitted is the successful output of a co-creation event organised by the EU_SHAFE partners to respond, with a collective voice, to the public consultation process launched by the European Commission on the ongoing demographic change causing Europe’s population to age.

A lively and interactive discussion around the issues raised in Chapter 4, New opportunities and challenges in Retirement, and Chapter 5, Meeting the growing needs of an ageing population, took place and many valid and thought-provoking answers were gathered and summarised in the EU_SHAFE response.

In addition, on June 15th, an online event, “Contribution to the discussion on Green Paper on Ageing: The role of new technologies in keeping the older people at work and in good health”, organised jointly by the EU_SHAFE project and the H2020 SmartWork project was held online to share views on the potential of new technologies in keeping the older people at work and in good health. The webinar, taking into account the debate on ageing set by the Green Paper, has identified areas of policy response that need further development and highlighted examples of the solutions that might support closing the gap between technological progress and end-users’ real needs and expectations.
