The 2nd meeting of the Local Action Group, Ireland took place in the Louth County Council offices, Dundalk, Ireland on the 23rd January 2020. The meeting was an extension of the kick off meeting held in October 2019. The stakeholders represented were, Louth County Council, TU Dublin, Louth Age Friendly Alliance, Louth Economic Forum, Louth Local Community Development Committees, Northern and Western Regional Assembly, Louth Age Friendly Co-ordinator and the EU_SHAFE Project (Ireland) Co-ordinator and researcher.
The aim of the meeting was to garner a deeper understanding of the role of partners in the project; and in particular the research partner, TU Dublin and the North and West Regional Assembly and to finalise the Terms of Reference of the LAG.
The meeting began with the introduction of the new EU_SHAFE Project Co-ordinator and the project researcher. Following a discussion on the ToR, TU Dublin gave a presentation on their role within the EU_SHAFE Project.
One of the main objectives of the meeting was the identification of the North & Western Regional Assembly’s view of the primary objectives under review for the next EU framework under the Regional Operation Plans. David Minton of the NWRA joined the discussion remotely and a lively discussion followed on the priority objectives and how the EU_SHAFE Project can make inputs into the Regional Operation Plan process.
Finally, it was agreed that the next step for the EU_SHAFE project would be to make a submission to the Irish EU ROP public consultation with a focus on SMART city/SMART urban agenda, SMART regional Specialisation and Climate Mitigation.
