The City Council, working in partnership with The North Downs Way National Trail and The Via Francigina in the UK project are in the process of installing new interpretation & information boards at key sites. The first board, located in the Precincts at Canterbury Cathedral was unveiled in December 2016 as part of the European Association of the Via Francigena Conference hosted by Canterbury. The new board installed outside the World Heritage Site location, St Augustine's Abbey tells visitors more about the European Cultural Pilgrims route to Rome which follows the route of the North Downs Way National Trail from Canterbury to Dover.
