During 7th Interregional Learning Workshop organized 20th – 23rd March 2018 in Cracow (Małopolska Region) the partners of the InnoBridge Project happened to visit some of the business environment institutions. One of them was the Kraków Technology Park (KTP) as the involved stakeholder of the Małopolska’s InnoBridge Project. The idea behind that study visit was to provide in-depth insight into the Małopolska’s policy support for converting R&D results into commercial products.

InnoBridge partners were welcomed by the KTP management team, had a round of presentations as well as a study tour within the Park. The Park is established to strengthen the positions of Małopolska as one of the leading Polish regions in economic potential and investments. It provides public support for investors through special economic zone and many business support services.

KTP is also a hub for local start-ups in ICT, creative industries, automation technologies. The all 8 technology parks spread out in the region cover all areas of local smart specialization such as Biotechnology and Life Sciences, Sustainable Energy, ICT, Chemicals, Manufacturing of Metals, Engineering, Creative Industries.

The Special Economic Zone managed by the KTP covers an area of 949 ha. It offers holistic support to investors through state aid schemes (exemptions from some income taxes depending on the size of company), office spaces, business support, trainings, information on region’s economy, etc.

The company Velis Sp. z o.o. Sp. k. www.velistech.com , a tenant at KTP shared his impressions on the effects of the Park services for scaling-up of his business activities in 17 countries across 3 continents. The company works in automation and security area on the real estate market and is among the global leaders in its area.

InnoBridge partners took a tour in the KTP’s studios and smart spaces for supporting creative industry enterprises. Sophisticated and expensive equipment is available to start-ups, students and SMEs to accomplish their projects in animation, gaming, advertisement and filmmaking. Professionals in post-production of video and sound content are also at the services of companies at affordable fees.
