On the 17, 18 and 19 May, the Basque Country hosted the first meeting or Learning Journey of the four European regions that are participating in the Manumix Interreg Europe project, which aims to improve the evaluation of R+D+I policies in advanced manufacturing.
On the first of these three days, which was held in the Palacio Euskalduna in Bilbao, the members of Manumix - Lithuania, Wales, Piedmont and Euskadi - had the opportunity to share their impressions about the internationalisation of Industry 4.0 and the evaluation of R+D+I policies in advanced manufacturing with over one hundred institutional leaders from 20 European regions, as well as the European Commission.
On the 18 and 19 May, the meetings continued with work sessions at Zamudio Technology Park, which focused on delving deeper into the smart specialisation strategy of the regions participating in the project, in addition to revealing the preliminary results of the study carried out by Orkestra regarding the strategy for advanced manufacturing, governance models, instruments and evaluation of each of these.
Throughout this first Learning Journey, the members also worked on the first of the project’s five Learning Pillars, which focus on combining innovation policies for advanced manufacturing. In this work session, participants had the opportunity to learn from the best practices of innovative benchmark countries and to share their own experiences regarding the combination of advanced manufacturing instruments in their regions.
The next Manumix Learning Journey will be held in the fourth quarter of 2017 in Turin, Italy.
