No less than five Interreg Europe projects are competing for the RegioStars Awards 2020. The nominated projects are:
- iEER
- RETRACE
- S34Growth
- SYMBI
- TITTAN
The objective of the RegioStars Awards is to identify good practices and new approaches in regional development. The aim of the contest is to highlight original and innovative projects that could be attractive and inspiring to other regions.
S34Growth and TITTAN are candidates in the ‘Industrial transition for a smart Europe’ category. RETRACE and SYMBI compete in ‘Circular economy for a green Europe’ category. iEER is running in the special category of the year ‘Youth empowerment for cooperation across borders - 30 years of Interreg’.
A high-level jury will select the winners. The public will also have a possibility to choose and vote for their favourite. The online voting is already open - support your favourite(s) here.
The winners will be announced in the RegioStars award ceremony during the European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels (12-15 October 2020).
About iEER
iEER supports young entrepreneurs by breaking silos and bringing together all actors having a hand in entrepreneurial success. Universities, local and regional authorities, entrepreneurship support organisations and SMEs are closely involved in the project both on the local and interregional levels.

About RETRACE
RETRACE promotes systemic design as a method allowing local and regional policies move towards a circular economy. This entails move towards systems where waste from one productive process becomes input in another, preventing waste from being released into the environment.

S34Growth supports the renewal of Europe's industry and competitiveness by developing an innovative interregional element to structural fund policy instruments. Closely linked to the Vanguard Inititiave - New Growth through Smart Specialisation, the S34Growth partners are pioneering a new approach to European industry-led interregional cooperation.

About SYMBI
SYMBI improves the implementation of regional development policies and programmes related to the promotion and dissemination of Industrial Symbiosis and Circular Economy. The project partners are seeking for ways to align regional policies with the Circular Economy strategy of the European Commission to transform Europe into a more competitive resource-efficient economy.

About TITTAN
TITTAN addresses the challenge of ageing by creating a network of communication for interchanging good practices. The cooperation supports the design, innovation and technology transfer, as well as up-take and use of innovative products and solutions that improve the quality of life of elderly people and improve the performance of the European regional healthcare systems.
