Lower Austrian stakeholders met on 22 June 2021 in a meeting organised by ecoplus, The Business Agency of Lower Austria to discuss the next steps towards the Action Plan development.
Lower Austria is very inspired by the Barcelona Provincial Council’s good practice “Smart Urban Platform” and interested to develop solutions for platform-based services making use of Iot (“Internet of Things”), i.e. open data generated by public and private actors, in the region.
Singular projects and first experiences exist in the region but a joint regional solution, as developed
by Barcelona Provincial Council, is missing. The necessary actions to prepare such a platform will be developed in the Lower Austrian Action Plan. This shall include the analysis of use cases in different areas (regional & local administration, local waste management, agriculture, energy supply), looking at different solutions (sensors, transmission technologies (LoRaWan, 4G, 5G, etc) and platforms) and the development of show cases for regional and local actors to learn from.
The stakeholders also discussed synergies with other ongoing European projects with Lower Austrian involvement under Horizon 2020, Interreg AT-SK and the Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI) programme.
