Transport Malta has issued an Operator’s licence for an E Car Sharing company, following the issuance of an RfQ.
In line with its obligations as the promoter of Sustainable Mobility and the assumption of a ‘role model’ status on the subject of Electromobility, Transport Malta has issued an Operator’s licence for an E Car Sharing company, following the issuance of an RfQ.

This good practice is related to:
- Car sharing
- Sustainable Transport
- Awareness raising

Resources needed

Administrative support was required for the RfQ and Contractual process.

Evidence of success

A foreign company has seen the benefits in investing in this type of operation which will also address the issue of having an increase in the number of BEV’s on the Maltese roads.

Difficulties encountered

This is a new concept for the Maltese, however, given the increasing number of foreigners (who maybe are more used to this service) this could therefore be a good lesson – get people to sue the service as a ‘viva’ demonstration.

Potential for learning or transfer

This is simply a good model for other partners to follow, when they are dealing with vehicles which have to go round cities within a 100km radius of range...each vehicle has a minimum of around 110 km of battery range with one charge.
