Consolidation of goods within Växjö municipality and its suppliers
Instead of direct delivery of goods from various suppliers to different places in Växjö, the goods were co-loaded at one distribution centre in Växjö and then delivered to different destination within Växjö municipality

Resources needed

City of Växjö and neighbour cities
Carriers
Energy Agency for Southeast Sweden

Evidence of success

• Reduction of kWh usage per delivered ton
• Reduction of CO2 emission per delivered ton
• Reduction of deliverables per week
• Increased number of local produceres

Potential for learning or transfer

Municipalities make each year lots of purchases that are transported from the supplier to the municipal operations. The supplier's vehicle contributes to air pollution, CO2 emissions and congestion in the city center and around sensitive units such as schools and kindergartens. It should therefore be in the interest of the municipalities that these transports be as efficient and environmentally friendly as possible.
