Program to facilitate the transfer of e shop, especially in rural areas, avoiding closing it when the person who carries it goes for retirement.
It is a free program for the user, co-financed by the Government of Aragon and the Official Chambers of Commerce of Aragon, developed by these Chambers.
In this program, technical services are offered both to the retailer who wants to transfer the business and to the entrepreneur who wants to take it.
The transfer of small retail is difficult when the person who is carrying it take over for retirement or illness, especially in rural areas.
As consequence, the store closes even if the business is profitable, and the retailer’s know how is lost.
Since the 2005, there is a program co-financed by the Government of Aragon and the Aragon’s Chambers of Commerce.
The programme consists on offer free technical assistance services both to the retailer who wants to transfer the business, and to the new entrepreneur who wants to take it.

Resources needed

Human resources: Own staff of the Chamber of Commerce.
Financial resources: About 50,000 euros per year, through an annual collaboration agreement: 80% financed by Regional Government of Aragón, and 20% financed by Aragon’s Official Chambers of Commerce.

Evidence of success

In the 2015-2018 period, 268 interested people were attended. About one third of the transfers produced.

• Difficulty of access to financing from the new retailers.
• Little benefit if it has to pay transfer fee and monthly rent the new business.
• Less attractive to start in rural areas.
