Comunità alloggio “FACCIAMOCI COMPAGNIA” Co-Housing “Let’s stay together”

“Let's stay together" is a residential structure for autonomous and semi-autonomous older adults. It is a residential service characterized by medium care intensity and medium level of protection for people 65 and over who are autonomous and semi-autonomous, do not need continuous health care and who, in a situation favored by the network of social services, decide to share resources and cohabitation capacity.

Older adults are equipped, if requested by family members, with a GPS to be tracked, if away from home, in case of loss of sense of direction.

The Cooperative uses an IT platform to manage some internal services and procedures, such as:
• pharmaceutical diary,
• visit log,
• timetable,
Shift management,
• agenda,
• senior citizens registry,
• referents of the elderly,
• etc.

The monthly cost is 1400 Euro, and is supported by the older adults who pay a monthly fee. The latter is supplemented by the Municipality of Acerra, which contributes in the cases of social hardship, using the resources provided by the local social sector.

The initial investment by the cooperative was of € 35.000.

The older guests of the community are better monitored both from a health and a social viewpoint thanks to a professional team that sets up an individual assistance plan, on the basis of documentation certified by the attending physician and based on a social documentation concerning the subject, through the socio-environmental investigation method.

The formula for accommodation of this community hosts a minimum of 6 older adults up to a maximum of 12.

Home is a crucial component for people's quality of life, a complex need for everyone, and even more so for fragile categories such as older adults. In general, social housing projects:

• target well-identified target groups, based on the socio-economic profile or different conditions of vulnerability and hardship;

• provide accompanying services with variable formulas and intensities to respond not only to the need for "home" but also for relationships, communities, warmth, support for autonomy.

Has this good practice been adopted in other regions around the country or beyond?
Social housing is a common practice in Italy and abroad. It has still to be scaled up within the region.

Has this good practice implemented as a pilot programme or as an extended programme? In case it is a pilot programme, is there any plan for a wider implementation?
This is an implemented GP, although in a small scale.
