The book promotes the protection of traditions, focuses on the preservation of traditions, and raises awareness of our traditional values and folk costumes.
The publication describes the wear of Csík/Ciuc, Gyergyó/Gheorgheni and Kászonszék/Cașin areas and draws a parallel between the other ethnographic units, helps to place it in relation to the costumes of Szeklerland and the Carpathian Basin, and determines its place. In the book, the goal of recreating the costumes is intertwined with the presentation of the former authentic costumes, explaining the symbols used in the costume as wealth, anti-bewitching, fertility improvement symbols, but also describes in detail the rules for assembling the costume. The problem, which is highlighted, is the lack of such publications in this area. The author taught at the art school for several years and found that a handbook on folk costume education was missing. If someone wants to teach costume sewing should have the necessary learning curriculum.
The author has been collecting and dataing for 30 years, and has collected valuable, authentic data from his grandparents, which are no longer known to today's data providers. It is also planned to edit a publication about Udvarhelyszék/Odorhei area, as well as from the collections of Háromszék/Covasna and Marosszék/Mureș counties.
The main local stakeholders and beneficiaries are young people, but all people who want to make their ancestors wear. Anyone planning to make a traditional costume cannot cut the old piece to see how it was made. The book helps to make authentic pieces, new ones according to the rules of traditional costumes.
