Call for grants to subsidize the elaboration of a digital maturity diagnosis and develop a Digital Transformation Plan for individual SMEs.
Promotion of Industry 4.0 is one of the axis of the Industrial Plan of Navarre 2020. One of the actions included in this axis is "Itinerarios 4.0". In this action, it was foreseen to help industrial SMEs in the elaboration of their Digital Transformation Plans (DTP) by contracting specialized external advice.
The DTP must allow the company to adapt its business model, processes and products to the new business environment, making use of digital enabling technologies, in order to increase its competitiveness through greater flexibility and efficiency in production processes and improving the value contribution to its customers.
The process of developing the DTP includes, at a minimum, the following phases and activities:
I.-Preliminary analysis
II-Diagnosis
a) Business strategy and context
b) Technological infrastructure
c) Organization and people
d) Processes
e) Products and services
The results of this phase are reflected in a "Diagnostic and Potential for Technological Improvement Report ", including:
-An assessment of the global maturity level and of each of the previous dimensions.
-Opportunities for transformation to Industry 4.0 that have been identified.
III - Digital Transformation Plan
Content:
-Conclusions of the diagnosis.
-Opportunities identified in the scope of the Industry 4.0.
-Prioritized opportunities, objective, criticality of its implantation, actions and necessary resources, areas of the company implied, planning and follow-up indicators.

Finally granted:106,278.00 €
Evidence of success
22 SMEs benefited from the 2019 call and developed their DTP, with a number of companies showing interest in the next call.
Difficulties encountered
In practice, the audits are more focused on technological and process issues, leaving a little aside what is related to the business model.
It is difficult to find suitable audit firms. They need to have a multidisciplinary profile that few audit companies have.
Potential for learning or transfer
Certain possible points of improvement have been identified in this call, which could benefit from the knowledge in similar initiatives by other partner regions, such as the analysis of competences and skills related to the specific technological needs detected during the elaboration of the DTP and the analysis about the business model of the companies and the possibilities of improving, upgrading and customizing the product or services.
