The Fryske jumper is an icon that stands for the importance of reused material and the use of renewable raw materials, such as flax.
By developing the jumper, we make the possibilities of the circular economy visible. Frisian consumers discover the value of their own textile waste and the use of local sustainable raw materials. In doing so, we stimulate the local manufacturing industry in the field of circular textiles and breathe new life into local flax production.

Resources needed

None: crowdfunding

Evidence of success

Crownfunding action was succesfull. Also the presentation during the Dutch Designweek was succesfull. Fryske jersey is developed.

Difficulties encountered

Difficult was of course the start finances and how to us the local goods to produce a Jersey?

Potential for learning or transfer

By buying the Fryske jumper, we can produce it and the buyer supports the transition to a circular fashion and textile chain. He/she chooses for reuse of wool, he/she supports the local manufacturing industry, he/she takes care of the preservation of the crafts around flax and you take care of a healthy biodiversity. And all that in a jumper or cardigan! The use of local production is especially important in a time like the present and is being considered by many parties.
