The New European Bauhaus (NEB) Collective, hosted an online conference on April 29 to contribute to collective thinking around the European Commission's newest project, which aims to turn the Green Deal into a cultural project and bring it closer to citizens. The event was planned to be a participatory and multidisciplinary gathering in the spirit of the New European Bauhaus, allowing people from diverse academic and professional backgrounds to interact and discuss ideas on how to shape the NEB.
The paper "Common Ground: Making the Renovation Wave a Cultural Project," which is currently available online, summarizes major takeaways and results from the conference, which drew 800 people from all walks of life. The event, which began with statements from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, allowed leaders from six European towns to discuss how they are translating the NEB aspirations into specific initiatives and projects.
The Commission will reveal the "New European Bauhaus Communication" on 14 September, just one day before President Von der Leyen's State of the Union speech, following the completion of the co-design phase on 30 June.
The NEB implementation phase is the next to begin.
