SHARE partners met to discuss the work planned for their “bonus year”, which will focus on researching and sharing good practices for COVID recovery and resiliency strategies for cultural heritage sites and events, and for keeping them sustainable and accessible in the post-COVID era.
Participants were welcomed by Sviluppumbria’s president, Michela Sciurpa, and by the Umbria Region’s Manager for Planning and coordination of EU and National funds, Paolo Reboani.
Tourism is an important economic sector in the partner territories, and one that was especially hard-hit by restrictions imposed to combat the pandemic. Partners will conduct a survey of people’s travel expectations and behaviours, guided by the University of Greenwich. The data collected will help support decision-making by managing authorities and others responsible for managing cultural heritage properties and events and related tourism.
The project plans a public seminar on resilience strategies for cities that rely on cultural heritage tourism, to be held in 2022.
