The 1st Interregional Exchange Session of the SWARE project takes place in County Tipperary, Ireland from 22nd to 24th May.
During the Exchange Session, the project partners joined by relevant stakeholders and national managing authorities, will have the opportunity to explore good practices on governance structures of County Tipperary, as well as having a chance to meet local policy makers and stakeholders to discuss possible transfers of good practices.
County Tipperary will present initiatives of networking and strong community stakeholder involvement in local decision-making process. Examples include the Lough Derg Marketing Group which has successfully developed the Lough Derg area as a tourist destination. Also, the Tipperary Public Participation Network (PPN) practice will be presented as a good example of bottom-up stakeholder involvement in local decision-making and the River Suir Heritage Audits as an example of local involvement in data collection. Good practice study visits will be undertaken as walkarounds at relevant sites, small-circle discussion workshops, in-depth discussions with project experts and stakeholder interaction in small group and plenary meetings will all be held.
The lessons learned during this visit, and the others to be held later this year, will help to develop Regional Action Plans – the most important outputs of the SWARE project – which will address the improvement of policy instruments related to natural and cultural heritage management along inland waterways.
