The SYMBI project Infoday in the Malopolska Region was organized in Krakow on 14-15th September 2017 within the International Conference on Raw Materials and Energy in a Circular and Low-Carbon Economy.

The presence of the SYMBI info point has met with high interest among both local and foreign conference attendees. The representatives of the Marshal Office of the Malopolska Region promoted the project during the coffee breaks, shared the project aim and encouraged to visit SYMBI website for more information.

As a result of the recent student contest organized by the SYMBI project in Malopolska, whose aim was to describe an existing or proposed solution in the area of industrial symbiosis, a team from the Cracow University of Economics that was awarded the 1st place presented their work to the attendees.

The winners designed an industrial symbiosis solution based on using flow ash from a CHP plant as a material for building the core of river flood banks. Due to the low permeability, the ashes constitute an excellent material to enhance flood prevention.

Promotion of SYMBI project ended up with two presentations on the second conference day dedicated to the interregional cooperation based on Interreg Programme and SYMBI project examples.
