The first stop was a visit to Malmö city, one of the forerunners in Sweden on Industrial and Urban Symbiosis (IS/US). We learnt that the city has incorporated industrial symbiosis in their city plans and has created a vision for IS/US
The following day a visit was arranged to the IKEA museum, displaying the journey the global company has started towards a more sustainable approach. One tool is to use Democratic Design were Sustainability is a core pillar. Växjö biogas production from household waste gave further insight in how a typical Swedish municipality is using waste as raw material for green vehicle fuel.
On the third and last day of the exchange Volvo CE shared their methods to become a CO2-neutral production site and to reach a zero-landfill target.
The exchange also gave opportunities to learn how to have a proper midsummer celebration the Swedish way.
