On the 4th of May 2023, the North-West Regional Development Agency is organizing in Romania the Smart Mobility Academy, dedicated to representatives of the local public authorities, public transport companies and other important stakeholders from six Romanian counties. In shape of a training program, the aim is to form a regional network of smart mobility experts that will further guide the development, implementation and monitoring of smart mobility and electromobility projects in the North-West Region of Romania.

The initiative is based on the EMOBICITY best practices shared from Germany, namely “E-Expert" program, where LEA Hessen offers municipal employees a free, multi-day training on the topic “Designing future-oriented mobility in the community” to become an expert in the topic of electric mobility.

The training program will be delivered by one of the EMOBICITY stakeholders, an outstanding professor from Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Faculty of Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics and Mechanics, Automotive Engineering and Transport Department.

To ensure the sustainability of the model, another best practice from Germany will be further enforced in North-West Romania, namely the creation of the Network of Smart Mobility Managers, based on the successful exchange of experience organized yearly by the Electric Mobility Office within the Hesse Agency.

These initiatives are part of the North-West Romania EMOBICITY Action Plan 2022-2023, contributing to the increase of capacity building among the public authorities around the e-mobility themes.
