The Development Institute of Aragon has developed a Social Entrepreneurship Programme wich main aim is to set up new initiatives in Aragon.
The main challenges of Aragon are, as they have detected, the depopulation of the rural regions and the ageing of theis population. Due to that, the creation of bussinesses in which social aims is the priority (suitainable employment, social insertion, sustainanbility...). SILVER ECONOMY BUSSINESS allows generate economic profitm generate social value and CSR.

This programme was created in 2014, and covers the entire region.

Some of the objectives of this programme are:
- Give more visibility to social entrepreneurship and communicate its important contribution to our region development and employment.
- Increase the sustainability and success of social businesses.
- Enhance the socioeconomic impact of this businesses.

Timescale:
*The call for request is during the months of September and October.
* The review is done a the end of November.
* The training begins during December until the end of February.
* Advising after the 12 weeks of training.
* The counselling and the ellection of dinalist is during the month of March.
* Final stage. The ones reaching this stage get a coach.
* The final act is on April.

Resources needed

Human Resources: an experienced organization that coordinates the programme, support of the social actors in entrepreneurship and a set of advisors and teachers experts social and entrepreneurial items.
Monetary: between 20.000€ and 25.000€.

Evidence of success

During the four editions of the programme there have been 164 requests of participation, 71 participants and 37 finalists.
Since the first edition, 30 new business have been stablished and keep working now, giving employment to 137 people.

Difficulties encountered

Challenges:
- Post-Programme support to increase the survival rate.
- Spin-offs: new business lines of existing companies.
- Focus on certain economic sectos such as Silver Economy.

Potential for learning or transfer

Key success factors:
* Good theachers and trainers in the education phase.
* The advisors are allocated to participants when they are still in the training phase. This boost the work of particiants and give us a tracking of the status.
* The counselling adapts itseld to participant's needs.
* Participants are able to do networking and hace easier access to funds.
