DIH-HERO (Digital Innovation Hubs in Healthcare Robotics) is a pan-European network of Digital Innovation Hubs specialising in Healthcare Robotics.
DIH-HERO is an independent platform that connects Digital Innovation Hubs across Europe to create a sustainable network for all those who are active in the healthcare robotics sector. The project consortium consists of 17 core partners spread across 11 pan-European countries.
IH-HERO enables them to develop innovative products and services that are better fitted to the needs of the healthcare systems across Europe. Furthermore. The network focuses on developing services that join business and healthcare stakeholders in developing innovative products and services for the healthcare market. DIH-HERO developed channels between healthcare and technology providers that reduce barriers to adoption and which develop a strong mutual understanding between robotics technology innovators and healthcare professionals. DIH-HERO operates throughout the healthcare "pathway" that connects Prevention, Diagnosis, Treatment, and Care as well as covering all aspects of hospital logistics and clinical services. It will also focus on home and care-based robotics addressing healthy aging and elderly care.

Resources needed

Each Hub partner delivers both technical and medical expertise to the consortium. DIH-HERO is supported by the European community for four years beginning in January 2019 with 16 Mio € of which 8 Mio € will be invested into DIH-HERO own calls for SME.

Evidence of success

Each Hub partner delivers both technical and medical expertise to the consortium through their pre-existing operational relationships with hospitals and healthcare facilities. They couple in-built expertise in business development, access to finance and innovation to robotics technology and healthcare expertise in a network of hubs that connects and stimulate robotics innovation in all aspects of healthcare.

Potential for learning or transfer

The implemented activities within the Network allowed to create a cooperation platform with an impact even beyond the Network. The implementation of the Network's activities also serves as an input for the strategic innovation policy of the region.
